AUTOMATIC CHEMICAL PREPARATION SYSTEMS

In wastewater treatment plants, automatic polymer preparation systems are designed to correctly prepare and dose the chemical called polyelectrolyte (poly), used especially in sludge dewatering and certain chemical treatment processes.

Automatic Polymer Preparation Unit Polyelectrolyte enhances flocculation, increasing the efficiency of the dewatering process. Since it is supplied in powder or liquid form, it must be mixed with water at specific ratios before use. Manual preparation is difficult and error-prone, making automatic systems preferable.
What is an Automatic Polymer Preparation System?
An automatic polymer preparation system is a unit that automatically mixes powder or liquid polymers with water, matures the solution, and delivers it to the treatment system at the correct dose.
System Components:

  • Preparation Tank (usually 3 compartments):
    – Feeding compartment: Polymer and water are initially mixed
    – Maturation compartment: The polymer solution becomes active
    – Storage compartment: Ready-to-use solution is stored
  • Powder Polymer Feeding Unit (or liquid dosing pump):
Automatically feeds powder polymer in the required amount
  • Water Dosing Line and Flowmeter:
    – Controls the amount of water mixed with the polymer Ensures precise measurement for correct ratio
  • Mixer:
    – Ensures homogeneous mixing of polymer and water Speeds up dissolution
  • Control Panel (PLC/automation):
    – Manages the entire process automatically The operator only needs to configure the settings
    Advantages:
  • Ensures proper mixing ratio (prevents excess polymer usage)
  • Reduces human error and labor
  • Continuous and uninterrupted polymer solution production
  • Ensures complete dissolution of polymer (improves flocculation efficiency)
  • Easy to operate and maintain

    Applications

  • Sludge dewatering systems (especially before filter press, screw press, centrifuge)
  • Chemical precipitation systems
  • Pre-flocculation in industrial treatment plants
  • Drinking water and process water treatment
