Bar Screen
The bar screen is the most basic type of coarse screen used in wastewater treatment plants. It consists of vertically or inclined arranged parallel metal bars placed in a channel to retain large-sized solids (cloths, wood, plastic, debris, etc.) from the wastewater.

How It Works?
- As wastewater flows through the bars, solids larger than the openings are trapped.
- These solids are:
– Removed manually (with a rake)
– Or collected and removed by mechanical systems (automatic rake, chain systems).
