Basket Screen

The basket screen is a coarse, usually manual screen type used in wastewater treatment plants. It is typically located at the beginning of the preliminary treatment line or in small-scale plants. As the name suggests, it uses a perforated basket structure to retain large solids in the wastewater.

How It Works?

  1. As wastewater passes through the channel or tank, it is directed into the perforated basket.
  2. Large solids (cloth, plastic, wood pieces, etc.) are retained in the basket holes.
  3. These retained materials are removed manually (by hand) or by a hoisting system at intervals and sent for disposal.
